Abstract : The press and those in charge of it in Iran enjoyed a kind of relative freedom during the first stage of its life, and that movement developed during the years of the constitutional movement, and it increased in confidence and maturity during the years of World War I, when the division over itself was between supporters and opponents of the foreign presence in Iran. At the outbreak of World War I, the beginnings of a new phase in the life of the Iranian press, which was based on patriotic praise and patriotism, publishing articles and studies concerned with the political and economic reality, and trying to extricate the country from the miserable reality in which it was living. Many press offices were established and requests were submitted to the Prime Ministry. With the aim of allowing the opening of press centers, the orientations of these newspapers varied, including scientific ones, political ones, literary ones, and so on. The Iranian press entered a dark tunnel during those years and was divided between supporters and opponents of both rival blocs, the center bloc and the allies.
